Beep, Beep, Beep

Is what you say.

Just that sound can save the day.

Beep, Beep, Beep

You warn us of danger

That comes in the form of smoke.

Beep, Beep, Beep

There is a fire forming in the bathroom,

Yet you warn us away from impending doom.

Beep, Beep, Beep

Though your creation came in 1890,

You were created in an affordable form in 1965.

Beep, Beep, Beep

Now that you are cheap enough to buy,

Most families are safe under your watchful eye.

Beep, Beep, Beep

Because you are so necessary to detecting fires,

The selling of you helps the economy.

Beep, Beep, Beep

You save homes from being damaged beyond repair,

By detecting that smoke that is in the air.

Beep, Beep, Beep

You are a hero—that's what you are!

Saving people from financial ruin that comes from fire.

Beep, Beep, Beep

What’s that, what is that I hear?

I hear your warning crystal clear.

Beep, Beep, Beep

What is the danger? Why do you sound?

Ah, I see what you cry out at …

Beep, Beep, Beep

It is the one thing that you go off for the most,

Silly detector, it is only burnt toast!
