Charles Hillman

Columbus Metropolitan Housing Authority (CMHA)

Charles Hillman has served as president and chief executive officer of the Columbus Metropolitan Housing Authority (CMHA) since 2010. During his tenure, he has expanded the CMHA’s housing portfolio from 1,500 to nearly 6,000 mixed-income multifamily units, increased the valuation of its housing portfolio to nearly $1 billion, averaged over $150 million in annual development activity (with an agency record of $275 million in 2024), and secured an A+ rating from S&P Global. The latter has helped the CMHA leverage over $260 million in bond issuances for the development and preservation of mixed-income housing.

Hillman has over 30 years of experience in real estate and housing. He has dedicated his career to providing access to housing for all and to securing life-giving supportive services for the residents he serves.

Active on many boards and advisory councils, Hillman serves on the boards of Federal Home Loan Bank of Cincinnati, the Council of Large Public Housing Authorities, the Rise Together Innovation Institute, the Ohio Legislative Black Caucus, and the Columbus Museum of Art.

Hillman holds a BBA from Bowling Green State University, an MBA management certificate from Loyola University, and is a graduate of Harvard University’s Next-Generation Executive and Emerging Leader Program.
